DOHA – The Overseas Filipino Investors and Entrepreneurs Movement (OFIEM) has elected its new leadership for 2026 during a general assembly that highlighted financial literacy and the growing “Home for Good” initiative for migrant workers.

The assembly, held November 21 at the Radisson Blu, brought together members of the 140-strong organization to chart the path for the coming year while emphasizing long-term stability for Filipinos living abroad.
Kristine Marie Zapanta was elected president for the 2026 term, succeeding outgoing president Layla Bernal.
Financial Literacy and Legacy
Philippine Ambassador to Qatar, Mardomel Celo Melicor, urged attendees to prioritize consistent financial habits to ensure a secure transition back to the Philippines.
“Small, consistent habits lead to long-term stability,” Melicor told the assembly, according to a statement from the group. The ambassador was later presented with a plaque of appreciation for his support of the migrant community.
The event featured intensive sessions on wealth management and estate planning led by experts Aris Jay Riparip and Greg Loayon. The discussions focused on “intentional life planning” to ensure that the earnings of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are protected for future generations.
Resilience and Reintegration
A central theme of the gathering was the “Home for Good” program, a movement designed to assist Filipinos in their eventual permanent return to the Philippines through sustainable investment and entrepreneurship.
Outgoing president Bernal highlighted the group’s mission to empower members through the ALSE (Ateneo Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship) programs, which focus on continuous learning and community support.
