DOHA — A coalition of labour‑support organisations hosted a financial literacy session for Qatar Foundation workers on 27 June 2026, aiming to strengthen money‑management skills and protect migrant workers from financial risks.

Held at the Multaqa Student Centre in Education City, the two‑hour program was organised by the Workers Support and Insurance Fund (WSIF), Qatar Foundation (QF) and Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI), with facilitation from the Bayanihan ng Manggagawa sa Konstruksiyon ng Qatar (BMKQ) and support from OFIE‑M and PinoyWISE International Qatar.
The session brought together migrant workers for practical guidance on budgeting, saving, planning family financial goals and identifying fraudulent schemes. Speakers highlighted the growing need for financial resilience among overseas workers in Qatar.
Engr. Ressie Fos discussed the financial journey of migrant workers, underscoring common challenges faced by overseas Filipinos and the importance of long‑term planning. Mr. Aris Riparip led a segment on fraud prevention, warning participants about scams targeting migrant communities and outlining steps to safeguard personal finances.
Organisers said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving the financial well‑being of migrant workers and promoting informed decision‑making. Partner groups noted that continued collaboration will help strengthen financial security across Qatar’s diverse labour population.
